News Toronto, September 22, 2010Winscott Licenses Rights to Being Erica, the Board GameWinscott Corporation announced today that it has licensed the rights to produce Being Erica, the Board Game from Temple Street Productions, an award-winning television, film and digital media production company based in Toronto, Canada.Being Erica is a one-hour television series created by Jana Sinyor. The show is in its third season and follows the life of Erica Strange, a smart and pretty 32 year old whose life seems to be going nowhere and who can’t help but blame past screw-ups for her current misfortune. After suffering a series of mishaps that land her in the hospital, she meets the mysterious Dr. Tom – a therapist who seems to know a lot about her. Dr. Tom issues Erica a challenge: if she wants to fix her life he can help, but once she’s committed, she can’t back out. Desperate, Erica accepts his terms, and, after a brief and bizarre therapy session during which she provides him with a list of her life’s greatest regrets, she finds herself flung back into her own past. A teenager in full possession of her 32 year old mind, Erica’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime - to make different choices in the hope that she can transform her present by revisiting her past. Since premiering on CBC, the critically acclaimed show has become a worldwide hit, having been distributed by BBC Worldwide into over 75 countries, including: SOAPnet (U.S), E4 (U.K.), ABC2 (Australia), Paramount Comedy (Spain) and SBS/Net5 in Holland. Modeled after the premise of the television show, Being Erica, the Board Game, is an adult game that explores players’ regrets in hilarious and often revealing ways. Each player has the option to select one of Erica’s past regrets or to create their own regret-scenario. They are then thrust back-in-time and given the opportunity to do-over their regret while the other players suggest possible do-over solutions.. Dr. Tom also helps guide the players with his famously wise and endearing quotes. Winscott will be showing the Being Erica Board Game at the Dallas Toy Show in October, 2010. The game will be launched at retail outlets in the second quarter of 2011.
